We have finally seen a change in the weather pattern over the last week from a dominating high pressure center over the Southeast to more open flow from the Gulf into the region. This is bringing more moisture and the chance for multiple rain events as fronts are now able to move through the area. Each one brings a chance of some rainfall to the region. Even though individual rain events are not expected to be large, the occurrence of several of them means that things should start to get greener as the soil moisture increases.

The first one should move into NW Alabama early on Tuesday and progress to the east. Rainfall will be variable since this will be showery thunderstorm-type rainfall, so some people may be missed and others will get a lot more. A second round of rain follows that on Wednesday, and then additional rain should fall over the next couple of weeks as systems progress through the region. Some systems will target more northern areas, while others may bring rain to areas farther south near the Gulf, but most areas are expected to see at least an inch of rain in the next week except for southern Florida, which will have some rain but not as much are more northern areas. Week 2 will be quite a bit cooler and the most likely places for rain to form are in Florida and near the northern Gulf Coast. A rainier pattern is expected to continue into mid-May.
