After a long dry spell, we are looking forward to seeing a higher chance of rain starting on Tuesday afternoon and increasing late in the week as the flow of warm and humid air from the Gulf into the Southeast is growing. There will be a chance of scattered showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, then a temporary break on Thursday before the rain becomes more widespread and heavy over the weekend. Rainfall will be the heaviest over Alabama and northern Georgia and fairly light in southern parts of the region. In week 2, the rain shifts to the Florida Peninsula. Weeks 3 and 4 show equal chances of above, near, or below normal rainfall for most of the region, and with temperatures continuing to be warmer than normal, evaporation may still lead to increasing dryness in the soils, which will be bad for farmers trying to plant.
