I recently ran a story about the end of the Farmers’ Almanac, which is publishing its final edition in 2026. But did you know that there is another almanac called The Old Farmer’s Almanac? This is the one that I grew up with including its bright gold cover, which made it easy to identify when the new one went up on the shelves each fall. That almanac, which has been published even longer than the Farmers’ Almanac, is still going strong. If you ever wondered what the difference between the two is, this article from Morning Ag Clips describe how the two almanacs compare: https://www.morningagclips.com/the-old-farmers-almanac-vs-farmers-almanac/. I don’t use them for climate predictions, since they don’t have a good record for accuracy (just about 52% correct compared to chance), but they have a lot of other great information like sunrise/sunset times, frost dates, and other practical information.
