The latest Drought Monitor, released earlier this week, shows that drought and abnormally dry conditions decreased this week in Florida due to the rain that moved through this week, particularly northern Florida with Investigation 93. The severe (D3) drought in South Florida continues but other areas have shrunk in area this week. In Puerto Rico, the areas of abnormally dry conditions (D0) have stayed the same. In the rest of the region, a few small areas of abnormally dry conditions have popped up in Alabama, eastern Tennessee, and Georgia due to the lack of rain and the dome of high pressure over that region, combined with the hot temperatures.
