Tropical Storm Andrea has come and gone quickly and the next week looks like it will be a quiet one for the Atlantic tropics. The National Hurricane Center is showing a small region of potential development in the southern Gulf, but it only has a 20% chance of developing in the next week so it is nothing to worry about at the moment. Forecasters are also watching the potential for development along a front that is expected to become stationary along the northern Gulf Coast, but it is not worthy of much concern at this point, although it could bring some heavy rains to the Florida Panhandle and points north of the Florida border.
