The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that the area of extreme (D3) drought expanded slightly along the west coast of the Florida Peninsula, but the east side of the peninsula and several other areas in the northern half of the Southeast improved. There was also an increase in drought in Southwest Georgia due to lack of rainfall and warm temperatures. Florida is likely to see some improvement this week since their wet season has started but rain in SW Georgia is expected to be light this week so things could get worse there.
