Another month has ended and we can now take a preliminary look at the monthly statistics for the region. The region as a whole was mostly warmer than normal except for Southeast GA and Al and the Florida Peninsula. If you look at the daily max and min temperatures separately (you can do this at https://hprcc.unl.edu/maps.php?maps=ACISClimateMaps), you will see that the daily high temperatures were warmer everywhere in the region but especially in the northern half. By comparison, the daily minimum temperatures were cooler than average over the southern half of the region. Precipitation was very dry almost everywhere except a streak along the Coastal Plain running from the Florida Panhandle up the East Coast. As a result, drought expanded in Virginia, the western Carolinas, and northeast Georgia, although the area of rain did provide some relief where it fell.
