The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that recent rain reduced the drought in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida but the drier conditions in the northern part of the region resulted in slight increases in drought there. Puerto Rico also saw an increase in drought from last week. Northern parts of the Southeast should see the most rain in the next week, which could improve drought conditions there. We are all still waiting for the expected El Nino precipitation pattern to settle in, but so far we have not seen it.
