Today, Hurricane Lee formed quickly after becoming a tropical storm. It is predicted to move through very favorable conditions for the next few days and is expected to become a major hurricane of category 4 or 5 in the next week. By the end of the week it will be approaching the Caribbean island chains and Puerto Rico but will still be several days away from affecting the continental United States. Most of the computer tracks so far indicate that it is likely that it will curve to the northwest and then recurve to the northeast before it hits land, but of course this is subject to change so far out. Everyone in the Southeast should be watching the movement of the storm carefully to see if it shows signs of deviating from the currently predicted path and prepare accordingly.
