The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that extreme (D3) drought has appeared in South Alabama as well as expanded slightly in Florida. A small area of moderate (D1) drought has also appeared in southwest Georgia. Since most rain in the next few days will be confined mostly to Florida, the area of drought in Alabama may expand even though temperatures have dropped, although there could be some relief in the Florida Panhandle and SW Georgia. There was no chance in drought status in Puerto Rico this week.
