The latest 7-day outlook for the Atlantic Ocean basin today shows that there are two potential areas for tropical storm development in waves that have recently come off of Africa or are about to move over the ocean. Neither of these will develop in the next couple of days but both have the potential to develop in the next week, although the percentages are not large. Since these storms are way in the eastern Atlantic, they pose no immediate threat for us in the Southeast but are something to keep an eye on as we enter the most active phase of the Atlantic tropical season in the mid-August through October period.
