The latest Drought Monitor, released earlier this week, shows that abnormally dry (D0) conditions expanded in most states this week with the exception of Georgia, which saw reduced coverage due to recent rains. Small areas of moderate drought (D1) were added to North Carolina and Alabama, and drought expanded slightly in Florida this week. There were no changes in drought in Puerto Rico this week. Most of the region will be completely dry this week except areas near the coasts and in Florida so I would not be surprised to see an expansion of D0 on next week’s map.
