With just a couple of days to go in June, a preliminary look at the monthly amounts shows that most of the region was below normal in temperature in both max and min temperatures. Some parts of the region, especially western VA and NC, were several degrees colder than average, although high temperatures for the next couple of days will bring those values closer to normal by the end of June. Precipitation in many areas was wetter than normal, especially in northern Florida and connecting areas of Georgia and Alabama, but drier areas in eastern NC and Virginia allowed the expansion of drought there.
