I have been getting comments and questions about whether smoke from the Canadian fires is affecting us here in Georgia. I definitely saw some today, although here it is quite high in the sky and we can’t smell any smoke. However, if you go farther north into North Carolina and Virginia, things are quite a bit worse and I’ve heard that friends there can smell smoke and see the orange haze very clearly. If you are interested in where the smoke is currently located, a good interactive map can be found at https://fire.airnow.gov/. If the interactive map does not open, just close the white window and you should see the map for the whole US. The map shows Air Quality reports for stations around the country with a contour map of smoke density behind it.
