The latest Drought Monitor, released earlier today, shows that the area of severe (D2) drought has been eliminated from Florida but elsewhere in the Southeast abnormally dry (D0) conditions have expanded. Florida and South Carolina are the only states that have not seen an increase in dry conditions. Moderate drought (D1) expanded in Virginia and in Puerto Rico. Above-normal rainfall in the next week or two may alleviate some of those dry conditions.
