April 2023 was wetter than normal over a lot of the region. Temperature varied a lot, with the warmest temperatures in Florida and along the coast and the coolest temperatures were in Alabama, northern Georgia and western South Carolina. The areas that were the warmest generally corresponded with the areas in drought. The extreme rain event near Fort Lauderdale shows up clearly in the precipitation departure map.
