What a miserable day Saturday was for a large part of the region! It rained all day in Athens starting just after my CoCoRaHS observation at 7 am, and they finally called off the Masters Tournament in Augusta shortly after 3 pm after a sodden end to the second round and start of the 3rd round. Today was a day for ducks in those areas. If you were in northern Virginia, southeast Georgia, or much of Florida, you saw drier conditions, lucky you! This week while this mass of rain moves off to the east, there are still chances for showers in parts of the region, although it won’t be like Saturday for most places. Fortunately, the cool air won’t last long and we will get back into warmer weather soon. Conditions are expected to continue to be wetter than normal in week two and then warmer and drier conditions are expected towards the end of April.
