The latest Drought Monitor, released last week (somehow I missed posting about this earlier) shows an expansion of abnormally dry (D0) conditions across central North Carolina and down into South Carolina and even into Georgia. Those areas were largely missed by the recent tropical disturbances and stayed warm and dry. By comparison, the area of moderate (D1) drought in Virginia is gone and the area of abnormally dry conditions significantly reduced because of the rain from Ida.
