With the recent severe weather we have had in parts of the country, it is no surprise that many people are having to deal with insurance claims. Here are two recent articles that discuss ways that you can make the process less painful. Also, keep in mind that you will reduce your pain afterwards if you document what you have before a storm hits. This includes both keeping a current inventory of equipment, livestock, etc. (you can do this at the beginning of the season or even over the winter months) and keeping track of the condition of your crops by taking photos, getting preliminary yield estimates, and keeping track of what you paid for inputs. If you have access to a drone, overhead photos can also help monitor variations across your fields.
