With just a few days to go in the month of July, it won’t surprise anyone this year that the month is likely to end up wetter and cooler than normal, even with the warmer temperatures expected the next few days. Virginia is really the only area with a big region of warmer than normal temperatures. Most of the cooling has been in daytime high temperatures, and in Florida and adjacent areas the overnight minimum temperatures have been warmer than normal. You can see these maps for other time periods and regions at https://hprcc.unl.edu/maps.php?map=ACISClimateMaps. The cooler temperatures have made this one of the most comfortable summers I have known in Georgia (so far), but the wet conditions are a real trial for farmers because they keep producers from getting their field work done and encourage the growth of white mold and other fungal diseases.
