The strong high pressure over the Southeast will continue to dominate the weather over the next week. Alabama, Florida and Georgia are not expected to see rain. After a dry weekend across the region, some showers should return to Virginia and the Carolinas, although amounts will be fairly light. Hot temperatures associated with the high pressure will add to the heat stress on plants and animals. The Climate Prediction Center indicates that above-normal temperatures could continue through most of the next four weeks. The rain from the tropical disturbance that came onshore in Texas overnight is expected to go north following the circulation around the high and should not affect us.
