Unlike February, March was much closer to the expected La Nina conditions. Temperature everywhere across the Southeast was warmer than normal. In a reversal of the usual trend, daytime high temperatures were more above normal than the nighttime lows. Precipitation in most parts of the region was drier than normal, but a few wet pockets still occurred, especially in northern Alabama and northwest Georgia. This pattern was a pretty close match for what was forecast at the beginning of the month, which does not always happen.
