Another month has come and gone and so today we will look at the preliminary climate summary for September 2020. The maps from the High Plains Regional Climate Center show that average temperatures were near to slightly above normal across most of the region. If you break it down into maximum and minimum temperatures, you can see that the days were relatively cool, most likely due to the cloudy and rainy conditions seen over quite a bit of the month. Nighttime temperatures were warmer than normal in most parts of the region, also due to cloud cover which trapped heat near the ground and moisture that held temperatures up. The precipitation pattern shows that excess rain fell in the areas closest to the tracks of tropical storms, which other areas remained drier than normal.
