The preliminary maps of temperature and precipitation departure for March 2019 are now available from the High Plains Regional Climate Center. They show that temperatures across the region were generally warmer than normal in most of Florida and Georgia as well as southeastern Alabama. The rest of the region was cooler than normal. An area of northern Georgia stretching into NE Alabama and western North Carolina was wetter than normal, but most of the region was well below normal in rainfall, helping to spur the development of abnormally dry conditions and moderate drought in the driest parts of the region.
