NOAA’s monthly summary for the US shows that “In the first three months of 2018, there have been three weather and climate disaster events with losses exceeding $1 billion each across the U.S. These events included a severe storm event in the Southeast and two winter storm events in the central and eastern U.S. Overall, these events resulted in the deaths of at least 34 people and had significant economic effects on the areas impacted.”

The summary also shows that the US temperature for March was near the median value for the 124 year record but 1.1 F above the 20th century record. Precipitation for March and for the year to date were b0th near the median values.
