A very tight low pressure center is located in the far northwest corner of Georgia tonight.  The pressure of the storm in the center near Dalton GA was 981.2 millibars or 28.97 inches of mercury.  This would be one of the lowest pressures ever reported in a non-tropical storm in Georgia and may set the all-time record for Georgia in January.  It is also a lower pressure than the central pressure of 8 of the named tropical systems in the Atlantic Basin last season. The low is associated with a front that has contributed to the multiple rounds of severe weather that hit Georgia and neighboring states this week, resulting in multiple deaths and many injuries as well as significant damage to places like Hattiesburg MS and Albany GA.
