The latest Drought Monitor shows an significant expansion of severe drought in both Alabama and Georgia.  Dry conditions early in June and a miss by Tropical Storm Colin coupled with very warm temperatures has allowed severe drought to grow, expanding south from the northern portions of those states into the Birmingham and Atlanta areas.  Hot temperatures are expected to continue for a couple more days before a cold front brings some relief to the area.

If you have impacts from the drought that you would like to report, please send them to me and I will pass them on to the Drought Monitor folk, or you can submit them directly at https://droughtreporter.unl.edu/map/.
