So far May 2016 has had variable temperature and precipitation conditions.  Most areas of the Southeast have been above normal in temperature, particularly South Carolina.  Rainfall has varied widely, with North Carolina and Virginia receiving the most along with a strip of the western Florida peninsula.  Alabama and Georgia have been dry.  According to the Southeast Regional Climate Center’s perspectives tool, some stations in Virginia are in their top ten wettest Mays to date while a few stations in Georgia and northern Florida are in their top ten driest.  The dry conditions are likely to change as a pattern shift to wetter conditions is expected in the next few days.
