The Packer posted a story this week about delays in harvesting of blueberries from Florida and Georgia as well as frost in North Carolina that may reduce volumes this year.  At the same time, California’s yields are doing well due to ideal weather.  The combination of these conditions may lead to a lower than usual amount of blueberries available in April with most blueberries reaching the market in May, which could reduce prices then.

Florida and Georgia blueberries are running about ten days behind normal due to a cool growing season, according to The Packer, and may also have lost some volume due to the low number of chill hours this winter, with December so far above normal in temperature.  Heavy winds this week in Georgia may also have caused some losses.
