With the heavy rain that is expected for parts of the Southeast this week, you may need to know where to get flood information.  The National Weather Service’s Southeast River Forecast Center is a great source of information on all things related to water and hydrology.  Their website is at https://www.srh.noaa.gov/alr.  The image below shows today’s observed and forecast floods on rivers around the Southeast.  You can find information on flood safety from the NWS at https://www.floodsafety.noaa.gov/watch_warning.shtml and from Extension at EDEN at https://eden.lsu.edu/Topics/Hazards/Floods/Pages/Default.aspx.

Another source of streamflow information is the US Geological Survey.  Their WaterWatch website provides daily streamflow values compared to the long-term averages for the date.
