Here’s a preliminary look at winter across the Southeast, courtesy of the High Plains Regional Climate Center. Most of the region experienced below normal temperatures, with the exceptions of a few hot spots along with southern Florida. There was a lot of variation in precipitation across the region, with the wettest areas in southwest Georgia and south into the Florida panhandle and driest regions in the mountainous areas of the southern Appalachians and in south Florida. Both temperature and precipitation were relatively close to the long-term average for the period 1895-2014. Final statistics will be available in a few weeks.
