If you’ve been following this  blog, you have no doubt noticed that drought is the number one subject that comes up in blog postings.  It is no wonder: farmers are more interested in drought than in any other topic of weather and climate, because it is so detrimental to their bottom line.  And recent dry conditions in the Southeast have brought back not-so-distance memories of other years that were dry and had dire consequences for the crops and livestock in the region.  Today the New York Times wrote a thoughtful op-ed about writing about droughts that discusses the points of view that journals have taken on recent droughts like the exceptional drought in California that is entering its fifth year.  You can read the article by clicking here.
