Hello Parents and 4-H’ers!

We had so much fun kicking off our new program year this past month! We met over 700 new 5grade 4-H’ers, had our first meetings with severalgroups, and have done a ton of planning! Make sure to read all the things so you don’t miss the 4-H fun!

Cloverleaf: 4-H’er that is in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade

County Council: monthly meeting for Junior and Senior 4-H’ers that focuses on leadership and life skills

Fall Fundraiser – Front Door Produce

Please help support Camden 4-H’s Fall Fundraising efforts to fund in-county programming — purchase 20 pounds of Georgia Grown Produce for $30!

  • Ordering produce boxes is easy! You can order one for your family AND/OR order one to donate and we will get it to a family in need in our county. Boxes in the past have include generous portions of bell peppers, corn, zucchini, jalapeno peppers, yellow squash, etc.
  • Help spread the word! Share this post! Put in on all your socials, send to your email contacts, post at work…all the places.
  • 20# of produce for $30. Your purchases help support Georgia farmers and Camden 4-H!
  • If you have/know a youth in our SAFE/BB program or that is a member of County Council (7th-12th grader), you can list their name and the proceeds of your order will go directly towards supporting that 4-H’ers program/club.
  • Order online now through November 7th! This fundraiser is hosted completely online with payment by credit card. Order link is below beside flyer image.
  • Orders will be delivered to our office the week of Nov. 17 for you to pick up in time for Thanksgiving. Specific pick up times will be sent to you once the order deadline is reached.

5th Grade Updates

We have a friendly competition going to see which elementary school can collect the most 4-H spirit points (per student, to keep it fair)! Wear green when we visit your school, turn in can tabs, participate in activities outside of your school club and more to earn points. In the next newsletter you will be able to see how your school is doing in this competition!

National 4-H Week (Oct. 5 – Oct. 11, 2025) — Beyond Ready

Help us Celebrate!

  • GO GREEN on Oct. 6! Share a pic with us on our FB or Instagram page for points (send name and school to Ms. Shawnie via email to get points)
  • Share your story for “4-H for Good” on Oct. 9! Tell us about your 4-H journey, about a time a 4-H volunteer helped you, or anything that tells how 4-H bettered your chances to be #BeyondReady. (Please submit stories to ssahadeo@uga.edu by Oct. 8)
  • Invite a friend to one of our programs during National 4-H week!
  • Use your “hands for larger service” and do something to help out someone in our community and share some pics!
  • Create some 4-H art and share with us. We will use them to spice up our social media celebrations!

Upcoming Events – All participants must have signed medical release form and code of conduct on file to participate.

OCTOBER 7 Clover Chefs meeting: for all 5th-7th grade 4-H’ers. Limit 15 participants. Reserve your spot by emailing uge3039@uga.edu. Make sure to include your child’s name and grade. Cost is $15, to be paid via cash or check at drop off. Class meets at our office in Woodbine, 5:30-7:30pm.

OCTOBER 14 –Teen Leader Training for all interested 7th-12 grade 4-H’ers. Must attend course to assist with local programs. To reserve your child’s spot, email uge3039@uga.edu. Will be rescheduled if less than 5 sign up. Cost is $25 and includes food. Fees will be paid at drop off via cash or check. Program will meet at our office in Woodbine, 12-5pm.

OCTOBER 27–Clover STEM meeting: for all 5th-7th grade 4-H’ers. Limit 15 participants. Reserve your spot by emailing uge3039@uga.edu. Make sure to include your child’s name and grade. Cost is $10, to be paid via cash or check at drop off. Class meets at our office in Woodbine, 5:30-7:00pm.

NOVEMBER 11– Fishing and service in the great outdoors! For all 4-H’ers in 5th-9th grades. Looking for teen leaders and screened volunteers to help out! We will meet at Crooked River State Park, 8:30am-,1:30pm. Details will be sent out closer to date. Max 25 participants. To save your spot, email uge3039@uga.edu. Cost is $10, to be paid at drop off via cash or check.

Georgia 4-H Foundation Holiday Card Contest – Entries due by 4PM on October 9

1.All entries must be the student’s original drawing on an 8.5 x 5.5 inch (or 5.5 x 8.5 inch) sheet of white, unlined paper. No digitally created or AI images allowed.

2.Must be COMPLETELY original. A verification process will be used to ensure originality.

3.All entries should somehow include 4-H in theme for the message or design.

4.All entries must be colorful, so they can be reproduced for the card.

5.All active 4-H members are eligible to participate (cloverleaf, junior, and senior).

6.Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form, filled out by 4-H’er and signed by county agent. Forms available upon request.
