Tracking the Bermudagrass Stem Maggot
I am starting to work with our Center for Invasive Species to report/track the BSM population during the summer. Anyone can make a report of the sighting by clicking the first link and filling out a simple form. This can also be done with the EDDMapS app, but the website seems easier to follow. If agents or producers want to be notified by verified reports (I think it emails you new reports once a day), the register at the second link by typing in the species (bermudagrass stem maggot). Please note that this is a work in progress and we will likely encounter a few bugs along the way (pun intended). Our goal is to share real-time maps on social media and the Georgia Forages website of the reports once they start coming in.

Georgia Forage and Grassland Tour (June 23rd)
Join us for the Annual Summer Forage Tour being held this year in Washington County, GA. In addition to our meeting and Forage Spokesperson presentation, we are excited to tour two farms on June 23rd. The Farm at Watermelon Road specializes in grassfed beef and pastured poultry raised on perennial and annual forage. Wild Bill Pastures raises stockers and breeding stock using planted forages and high density grazing. Both of these farms focus on managing livestock and forages together to build healthy soil and resilient pastures. Come join us and learn how forages can work on your land.
