{"id":714,"date":"2019-11-01T08:53:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T12:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/worthag\/?p=714"},"modified":"2019-11-01T11:58:21","modified_gmt":"2019-11-01T15:58:21","slug":"armyworms-in-temporary-winter-grazing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/worthag\/2019\/11\/armyworms-in-temporary-winter-grazing\/","title":{"rendered":"Armyworms in Temporary Winter Grazing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There has been some calls on checking some wheat, rye, and oats cover crop\/grazing where bare spots in the field have been noticed.<\/p>\n<p>Several fields of cover crop\/grazing have been checked this week and we have seen a high population of <strong>armyworms (fall, yellowstriped, beet, southern<\/strong>) feeding extensively in the areas that are almost bare, and spreading from that area outward.<\/p>\n<p>The recommended <strong>threshold<\/strong> for these armyworms are when <strong>larval populations of any one or combination of species exceed 3 larvae per square foot.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The temperatures are getting lower, slowing down the armyworm generation time. This could be the last generation with the colder weather coming.
