The Worth County Extension hosted the 2026 Worth County Peanut Production meeting yesterday, January 29, at 6:00 p.m. Attendees were updated about Farm Service Agency (FSA) programs and dates by Mrs. Krista Knight, and then got the Georgia Peanut Commission Report from Ms. Maddie Frost. Following those updates, the UGA Peanut Team members presented the latest research-based information for peanut producers.
Dr. Scott Monfort, UGA Extension Peanut Agronomist thoroughly covered peanut varieties and characteristics, planting strategies, and production practices for growers. Then, Dr. Wes Porter, UGA Extension Irrigation and Precision Ag Specialist shared the latest information on peanut crop water use and irrigation strategies to maximize yield and production. Ms. Savannah Beasley, UGA SW District Water Educator, informed farmers of the Mobile Irrigation Lab that is available from Extension to help growers check the uniformity of center pivot irrigation systems.
