Southern corn rust has now been confirmed in Wayne and Grady Counties, and as of yesterday, Brooks County, Georgia. Growers should consider protecting corn that has reached tassel stage through dough stage from this disease. We will continue to update growers on the progress of the disease. Soybean rust: this important disease now has a toe-hold in Georgia and is present in Lowndes County. We will continue to update on this disease, also. Soybean growers should apply a protective fungicide at the R3 stage of growth (early pod formation) when making boron and insecticide applications.
