A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

This week we have seen armyworms in some of the winter grazing fields around the county. Feeding damage has not been extreme, but growers should be aware that they may be present. The oats in most cases were earlier planted and are at about 12″ in height. It would be a good idea to scout for these caterpillar pests in winter grazing and make a decision on treatment. The threshold for treating is 3 or more worms per square foot. It is expected that this would be the last generation for this season, and some fields may not have a problem. If you have questions, just let us know at Worth County Extension.

How many do you see? Armyworms vary in color from light green to dark. There were quite a few in this hot spot.
