We have started the peanut maturity clinics this week. These are held at locations in the county on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (for clinic information and details click HERE).

In peanuts, white mold seems to be present in most fields at this time, even those with a good, strong fungicide program. Continue to protect the crop by staying on a regular spray schedule. Other diseases to be aware of and protect for are leaf spot diseases, limb rot, and peanut rust. Rust has been confirmed in neighboring counties and could be in local fields. There are fungicides that will provide efficacy on rust – if growers see rust signs or need more information, contact our office at 229-776-8216.

More and more cotton bolls are opening across the county. Cotton boll rots are more evident in many fields. There is no fungicide treatment to help with boll rots. Weather conditions and micro-climate in the field have been ideal for boll rot to occur; irrigation management can be a factor that influences conditions for boll rot to occur.
