We have been dry for quite some time and this is a reminder to monitor/scout for lesser cornstalk borer. They thrive in hot and dry conditions and now is time to treat if they are present due to peanuts producing pegs and pods is a critical time.
Be weary to not use a pyrethroid on dryland/drought stressed peanuts with the conditions we have been in. Doing so, could flare spider mite populations with these environmental conditions. We will be monitoring peanuts as well, if you have any questions please contact us.
Also, feel free to contact us on caterpillar populations. We can scout and determine if populations are at threshold and worth treating. A lot of the time we cannot hardly find enough populations at threshold.This goes hand-in-hand with the scenario of using a pyrethroid on caterpillars and the possibility of flaring spider mites.
