These here are approaching 60 &#8211; 65 days and pods are developing really well. You can also see it was an even flower set. Pegs that are still coming on look good as well. No sign of white mold here, but we are having some pigweed issues. We are wicking with gramoxone here, but also have lots of pigweed coming up. Cadre was already put out here 2 weeks ago. We gotta remember to keep that 4 oz rate for pigweed. We may have to plow these small ones and go back with a Dual and DB. With all the tank mixing questions, I wanted to pass this information along from UGA Extension Weed Scientist Dr. Eric Prostko:<\/p>\n<p><em>Rain delays and\/or late planting have resulted in continual inquiries about peanut herbicide + fungicide tank-mixes and their potential effects on weed control and crop injury. UGA will <strong><u>never<\/u><\/strong> be able to adequately address all concerns with 90,000+ potential tank-mixtures in peanuts.\u00a0 \u00a0Here is a quick review of some of the published data:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>1)\u00a0When 2,4-DB is tank-mixed with a postemergence graminicide, grass control can be reduced by 8% to 15% approximately 45% of the time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>2)\u00a0When averaged across 5 grass species, Cadre (imazapic) + Select (clethodim) tank-mixtures provided 19% less effective grass control than Select alone.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>3)\u00a0\u00a0Abound (azoxystrobin), Absolute (tebuconazole + trifloxystrobin), Bravo (chlorothalonil) and Headline (pyraclostrobin) are 4\u00a0fungicides that have caused significant grass antagonism when tank-mixed with Select (~12% to 30% reductions in grass control).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>4)\u00a0Grass efficacy with Poast (sethoxydim) and Select has not been consistently reduced by tebuconazole (various trade names including Folicur, Orius, TriSum, Integral, Ebustar, Muscle, Tebuzol).\u00a0 However, when reductions have been significant, grass control was reduced by 4% to 13% with tebuconazole mixes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>5)\u00a0Palmer amaranth (PA) control was not reduced when 2,4-DB was tank-mixed with Bravo, Provost (prothioconazole + tebuconazole), Headline, or Absolute.\u00a0 But, 2,4-DB is not that great on PA anyway though?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>6)\u00a0 Sicklepod control with 2,4-DB was reduced by 14% when applied with Abound but not with Bravo or tebuconazole.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-682\" src=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/wilcoxcoag\/files\/2018\/07\/4D7526EE-6216-4E4F-9EC6-C4DC07A9CE6C.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/wilcoxcoag\/files\/2018\/07\/4D7526EE-6216-4E4F-9EC6-C4DC07A9CE6C.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/wilcoxcoag\/files\/2018\/07\/4D7526EE-6216-4E4F-9EC6-C4DC07A9CE6C-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/wilcoxcoag\/files\/2018\/07\/4D7526EE-6216-4E4F-9EC6-C4DC07A9CE6C-104x138.jpeg 104w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peanuts are looking good in the county.
