U.S. Drought Monitor for May 2, 2017:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the contiguous 48 states, the U.S. Drought Monitor showed 4.98 percent of the area in moderate drought or worse, compared with 6.11 percent a week earlier.<\/p>\n

Drought now affects 40,149,839 people, compared with 41,205,021 a week earlier.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Drought Monitor showed 4.21 percent of the area in moderate drought or worse, compared with 5.16 percent a week earlier.<\/p>\n

Drought now affects 40,226,026 people, compared with 41,300,480 a week earlier.<\/p>\n
