Liberty County employees and local wellness advocate and human resources specialist Laura Troutman kicked off a spring series of Zumba classes this week as part of their employee wellness offerings. County employees participate in many health and wellness activities coordinated by Laura. Each spring, employees take part in social media challenges and log their exercise in Walk Georgia for a fun, friendly competition. All participants receive a gift certificate to the local farmer’s market and winners get larger prizes focused on health and wellness, like $50 gift cards to sporting goods and natural foods stores.
Research confirms that for every dollar spent on employee wellness, businesses may experience a return of up to six dollars. Companies reap big rewards for investing in the wellness of their most valuable asset- their people! Proven benefits include:
- Lower health care costs
- Greater productivity
- Higher morale
- Fewer absences
- Fosters teamwork
- Promotes a culture of health
