Go: Stephen C. Foster State Park

Stephen C. Foster State Park is the perfect getaway for anyone who wants a quick escape into nature. This 80-acre park is located at the entrance to Okefenokee Swamp, which is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. The calm waters are perfect for a gentle kayaking session, while the beautiful scenery and diversity of wildlife are sure to capture the heart of any hiker.

The park also has one of the darkest skies in Georgia. This makes it the perfect spot for people who want to past some time gazing at the stars by night. In fact, Stephen C. Foster State Park hosts the Swamper’s Guide to the Galaxy event where stargazers far and wide gather to discuss astronomy and enjoy the night sky. Their next Guide to the Galaxy will be March 12th from 8pm to 9pm.
