The latest 7-day QPF forecast (Quantitative Precipitation Forecast) for rainfall in the next 7 days shows that we are returning to a rainier state over the next week after a slow increase in drought conditions for the past couple of weeks. A pair of fronts are supposed to move through the area this weekend, bringing some showers before the cooler air moves in and things dry out later in the week. An area of disturbed weather along the Texas coast could bring rain to southern parts of the state but should not affect northern Georgia. After that, things will gradually warm up and more rain returns to the state next weekend. The tropics are starting to become active again and rainfall amounts later in September will depend on whether any storms form and move over our region. The next potential storm is brewing in the central Atlantic but it will be at least a week before it gets close enough for us to worry about whether it might hit Georgia or not.
