The National Hurricane Center is currently posting a map showing the potential for tropical storm development along the Southeast coast in the next week. The area of interest so far has just some disorganized thunderstorms but is expected to reach more favorable conditions as it gets closer to Florida. Most models indicate that it is likely to turn north and may not bring much rain at all to Georgia, but some suggest a more western track which would be wetter. It will be something to watch but not of immediate concern. Meanwhile, we can expect a slightly less rainy week in northern Georgia and the mountains ahead with more rain focused on the region below the Fall Line in central Georgia. Rainier conditions are likely to ramp back up as the tropical activity increases as it generally does by late August.
