Fall returned to parts of the Southeast this morning as a wedge of cooler air moved into the region from the northeast along the east side of the Appalachians. But only light rain is expected from this air along with a cold front early next week for many parts of the region. The wettest region will be the southern tip of Florida and the mountains along with Alabama, which could get enough rain for some minor drought relief. Cooler temperatures this week should keep evaporation down.

Cain says that the grape harvest is mostly over, so this will be my last regular update of forecast weather conditions for this fall, although I will still post occasional stories. Hope it has been helpful, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments at pknox@uga.edu.
