Unless you live in southern Florida, you are unlikely to see any rain at all for at least the next week according to the latest 7-day QPF map. This is bad, because coupled with the well-above-normal temperatures, moisture stress is going to cause problems for ripening crops and will make it hard to start fall crops. I expect drought conditions to get worse in the next Drought Monitor which will be released on Thursday. Even after that, warmer than normal temperatures and dry conditions are expected to continue into October, so don’t expect relief any time soon. And even though the tropics are fairly active, none of the activity seems likely to bring the Southeast any rain in the near term. At least it’s great football weather!
