The Vineyard and Winery Association of West Georgia is holding its annual Southern Winegrape Symposium on Saturday, June 9 at the Carroll County Ag Center in Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia.   Current and aspiring individuals interested in learning more about winegrape growing and making wine are invited to attend.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Cain Hickey, UGA Viticulture Specialist.  Program topics include: Winery Licensing; General Pesticide Safety; Cultivar Selection & Harvest Decisions in the Georgia Piedmont; Basics of Commercial Wine Making; Winegrape Disease Update; Weather & Climate Trends in the SE & Their Impacts on Winegrapes; Overview of Building Features for Wine Production and Tasting Room; Common Insects of Southern Winegrapes; Establishing & Maintaining a Healthy, Productive Vineyard – What to Do & What Not to Do.

Pre-registration is $50 per person by June 1.  $75 per person after June 1 and at the door.  $25 for second person from family/vineyard.
