Job Opening – Farm Worker/Research Technician
The University of Georgia Vidalia Onion and Vegetable Research Center has a job opening for Farm Worker/Research Technician. The responsibilities of this position include assisting the Farm Manager and inmate labor crew with conducting research trials and farm/facility maintenance. The Center utilizes inmate labor from Rogers State Prison, and this position will work closely with a corrections officer and inmate crew to carry out farm duties. Day to day tasks on the farm include but are not limited to: planting, harvesting, tillage operations, and application of pesticides. Requires working outdoors and heavy lifting. Experience with operating farm equipment is preferred, but not required. The position is a full-time, benefits eligible position including retirement. $30,000 minimum salary depending on qualifications. On-farm housing option also available.
